Okay, so I've always been fascinated by the way a melody is still recognizably the same, even after its been harmonically twisted to the point where not even its own mother could love it any more.

As a sort of game, I want to hear all of your interpretations of any tunes that you love/hate, putting them in different lights.

To start the ball rolling, I have my own example, the sheet and the audio of which can be found in their links respectively.

It should be recognizable, but you might have to be told what it is before you get it. I'll declare its true identity sometime tomorrow, or confirm it if someone clever (like Wyvern, who may have known I was making this) guesses correctly.

-Echo

Edit: Changed the audio link to a file at the correct tempo
I just listened to what I wrote, and unless you're crafty with the score, you won't be finding the original tune in there any time soon. Once again, you still can, but to make it easier on those of you who (may or may not accept my identification challenge), I made a new arrangement.

If you look at the score, this one will be very easy, however, listening to the audio may still be relatively challenging. (unless of course you know what to listen for, or are training in college to learn how to listen for it).
Nobody even hazarding a guess? no new ideas? awwww : (
oh i am sorry i didnt even tried ^^ i'll try something tongue

for your two examples I have no idea. it's pretty though lol.

Fair enough.

The song in question was 'Yankee Doodle'. In the first example the melody was very visible, but were chromatically altered (and passing tones were added). In the second one, the melody is exactly as you know it in the soprano voice, I just made it chorale style and made the lower voices more interesting.

If you listen again, you'll hear it.
I hate you -.-
^^ kidding, that's awesome. i must say its very good, Bach ! Wink
I cant think of what to do with the B section; its just SO dorky!
The first one was really cool. It took me 2 run throughs to pick out the melody, and it still didn't occur to me till the last 3 or four measures what it was. The second one was fairly obvious, but still pretty nifty.
Glad you liked it. The second variation was just standard chorale form, made to give away the answer.

Anyone else want to take a swing at posting their own obfuscated arrangements?
